My name is John Gordian Dwyer. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and a Certified Addiction Professional with 30 years experience providing counseling services to adults, youths, children and their families. My experience includes working with clients of all ages and backgrounds with mental health and substance abuse issues. Their specific challenges included grief issues, depression, anxiety, relationship problems and family issues. I have counseled clients both individually and in groups. I focus on helping clients to develop better coping skills, improved ability to communicate and relate to others, recognize and change self-defeating thinking and behavior patterns, and realize their strengths and competencies for the purpose of solving their problems. My approach embraces Cognitive Behavior, Supportive Counseling and Problem Solving Strategies. My specialties include chemical addiction, relationship issues, depression, grief, anxiety/stress, character defects associated with addiction and anger management.
